根据塑料管材的性能评价原理，我国化学建材检测中心以及国内的一些大型塑料管材厂家从2001年开始对塑料管材进行8760试验。这项试验是对塑料管材使用寿命综合评价的重要方法，作为低温地板辐射采暖系统用加热管，应通过这项试验的考核。
这项试验需要将实验温度选为110摄氏度，根据时温等效变换法，将实验时间设为8760小时，因为8760小时为一年，当使用温度为70摄氏度时，温差为40摄氏度，外推因子为50，从而可推算出在70摄氏度条件下的使用寿命为：50×8760=438000（小时），正好为50年。
相关数据显示，PE-X管具有好的耐热强度。从这个意义上讲，在低温地板采暖系统中选择PE-X管作为加热管是科学的。同时，在上述几种管材中PE-X管也是较便宜的，因此，在低温地板采暖系统中选择PE-X管作为加热管也是经济的。
